Pepa Chan is a self-taught artist originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina. She produces works in various media such as painting, illustration, printmaking, sculpture and installation. Her work juxtapose themes of darkness and nurture, using collected found objects and mixed media as symbols and metaphors to create disturbing characters and nightmarish ambiances.
Chan is a recent member of the board of directors of Visual Artists Newfoundland and Labrador, and a member and volunteer at St. Michael's Printshop and Eastern Edge Gallery in St. John's, where she resides. She is also an art instructor at her home studio in the downtown area of the city.
